The Advantage of Feedback

From the summit of the Grand, or any peak, the entire climb comes into focus. Every win, every heartache, every step of the journey. In that moment of clarity, you don't just see the mountain below, you see the path forward, and onto the next peak to climb.

My professional life has been a testament to this outlook. As a producer for brands like Bose, Verizon, Lamborghini, and ESPN, I've learned that reflecting on monumental moments is the key to streamlining future success.

Reflection is more than just looking back at your accomplishments. It's actively learning from your wins and mistakes, seeing trends, and preparing for the next challenge.

The most helpful way I’ve found to do this is by creating a feedback journal. Whether it’s a daily entry or a project-based one, I always assign a title to the project to assist in recall when looking back, helping me easily revisit a specific reflection. From there, I break down not only the wins but also any setbacks.

When breaking down wins and setbacks, I've found it's essential to maintain an optimistic voice. This upbeat mindset allows you to process even the worst days, but also acts as a personal cheerleader. By changing your tone, you not only change your outlook and bring light to the situation, but you also change how you'll handle future tasks.

When it comes to wins, it's best to dissect what created that success. Find those small, successful moments and make them part of your day-to-day routines. This helps you build a repeatable formula for future wins.

As for setbacks, I see them not as a final verdict, but as a stepping stone. History repeats itself, and I've found that logging these experiences helps me know how to handle them when they inevitably arise again. I've even started loading my journal entries into AI tools like NotebookLM and Gemini to find those trends and nuances I know I've learned before, helping me get back on track and make the most of any situation.

Throughout the coming weeks, I'll be sharing other core principles that have guided my work. Reflection is the cornerstone of achieving what is believed to be impossible. Principles such as Manifestation, Action, Accountability and Adaptation are how the job gets done. I also will be adding a more complete framework to topics previously discussed, such as planning and goal setting.
